Teresa Shupe started Atlas Pilates in a small rented room in Seattle 2008. She had been teaching Pilates in big studios for about 15 years and had developed some firm ideas of how she wanted her own studio to operate.
She knew from experience how Pilates changed lives for the better, and she set out to prove it one-body-at-a-time. It was – and still is – important to her that Pilates is accessible, not just for the wealthy, and to that end has worked to keep overhead low and rates affordable.
The studio has grown over the years, attracting great teachers to a bigger, better equipped space, but the focus on positive results remains. At Atlas Pilates a client can expect to non-judgmental, non-dogmatic, encouraging instruction that can be transformational.
